Who authorises the disposition. Cremation may not proceed without permission of the next of kin or authorizing agent (Miss. Code §73-11-73), and Mississippi recognizes a Self-Directed Disposition Authorization (Miss. Code §73-11-58) that a person can sign in advance to control their own disposition ahead of the usual next-of-kin order.
