Who authorises the disposition. Cremation must be authorized by the person with the right to control disposition — the deceased's designated agent, then the surviving spouse, then a majority of adult children, then the parents, then siblings — on a signed cremation authorization form.
Scattering. Wyoming has no statewide statute restricting the scattering of ashes. Families commonly scatter on private property with permission or on public land subject to the managing agency's rules (national parks such as Yellowstone and Grand Teton require a permit); scattering at sea follows federal EPA rules.
